Zaira Wasim molestation case: Accused sent under police custody till Dec 13

Mumbai, Dec 11: The person accused of molesting ‘Dangal’ actress Zaira Wasim on board from Delhi to Mumbai, has been sent to police custody till December 13.

In a trial that took place today, the Police sought a 14 day-custody of the accused citing that it needed to prob the characteristic background of the accused, check if he is a repeat offender and chalk out his basic credentials, news agency ANI reported.

The accused argued that he was sleeping, and thus had no intention of molesting the actress.

The defender also alleged that he was raided and arrested from his residence without any notice, and that he should have been given notice to join the probe.

Earlier in a day, the wife of the accused passenger refuted the allegation saying her husband’s foot was kept on the armrest but not with an intention to harass.

The accused was yesterday held by Mumbai’s Sahar Police and was today presented before the court.

The incident came to light when Zairataking to Instagram shared the ordeal.

“Managed to get this,” Zaira posted along with a picture of the man’s foot, which was rested on her arm rest.

“The lights were dimmed, so it was even worse. It continued for another 5-10 minutes and then I was sure of it. He kept nudging my shoulder and continued to move his foot up and down my back and neck” she had said in a post.

“I just landed, the whole irony of this that I yelled… and this is not done… this is not how you should be treated or made to feela this is terrible. This is how they will take care of girls? No one will help us if we don’t decide to help ourselves and that is the worst thing,” she asserted, looking visibly disturbed.

In a selfie video doing the rounds on social media, Zaira, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, can be also observed breaking down on an Instagram live chat.

She ended her Instagram story saying “slow claps for Vistara’s wonderful crew guys.”

Vistara Airlines had also said it will investigate the matter.
