YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy stabbed at Visakhapatnam Airport

Visakhapatnam, Oct 25: YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy was stabbed on his arm by an unidentified assailant at Visakhapatnam Airport on Thursday.

Jagan Mohan received an injury on his left arm and was given first aid at the airport. Following this, he continued his journey to Hyderabad.

On his arrival, he drove to a city hospital for the treatment.

The attacker has been identified as J Srinivasa Rao, from Dhaniyalapalli village near Amalapuram. He is a waiter working at the Inner Lodge of Vizag Airport.

Rao reportedly attacked the YSR Congress chief  with a sharp knife on the pretext of taking a selfie

A commandant of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) overpowered Roa, who was later handed over to police.

The knife attack triggered tension at the airport as YSRCP activists gathered outside raised slogans against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the TDP government.

Reacting to the incident, Reddy said such cowardly acts will not dissuade him from working for the people.

To everyone worried about my safety, I’d like to inform you that I am safe. God’s grace and the love, concern & blessings of the people of Andhra Pradesh will protect me,” he tweeted.

“Such cowardly acts will not dissuade me but only strengthen my resolve to work for the people of my state,” he added.

Meanwhile, the state government constituted a special investigation team with one ACP and 2 inspectors to investigate the incident.
