New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS) National Award-winning actress Tabu believes in living with her fame, and says that one can’t just detach from it because fame becomes a part of one’s personality.

“It is way of life. You are a famous person when you are at home. You can’t stop being famous. So, you don’t have to deliberately detach from that because that will always be part of you,” Tabu told IANS when asked about how she handles fame.

“If you can look at it as an advantage and use it well, and apply it well, it is great. I don’t know if it is okay to become ‘fame’. I am famous and I have become fame are two different things. Fame will only come because of my work. For me, it was always important to focus on work rather than on how famous I am.

“It is easy to get trapped into external gratification, but I don’t think it is a healthy trap to be,” she added.

Tabu is known for projects such as “Maachis”, “Astitva”, “Haider”, “Drishyam”, “Cheeni Kum”, “Golmaal Again”, “De De Pyaar De”, “Bharat” and “Andhadhun”.

She will next be seen in the coming-of-age story “Jawaani Jaaneman” along with Saif Ali Khan. She is also preparing for a comeback in Telugu films after a decade, with Allu Arjun’s yet-untitled upcoming project.

Mumbai, Sep 14 (IANS) Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar’s views on Internet sensation Ranu Mondal did not go down well with a section of social media users, but it seems the comments have not affected the latter as she considers “Lataji her senior”.

“Lataji ki umar ke hisab se mai choti thi, hu aur aage ja kar bhi rahungi.. Bachpan se unka awaz pasand hai. (As far as age is concerned, I am younger to her and will always remain her junior. I have loved Lataji’s voice since childhood),” Ranu Mondal told Navbharat Times.

Ranu Mondal, who has now recorded three tracks for Bollywood singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya, became an overnight social media sensation after a video of her singing Lata Mangeshkar’s soulful number “Ek pyaar ka nagma hai” at Ranaghat railway platform went viral on the Internet.

When Lata Mangeshkar was asked about Ranu Mondal, she expressed happiness but with reservations.”Agar mere naam aur kaam se kissiko bhala hota hai toh main apne-aap ko khush-kismat samajhti hoon (If anyone gets benefited by my name and work then I feel fortunate).

“But I also feel imitation is not a reliable and durable companion for success. By singing my songs or Kishoreda’s (Kumar), or (Mohd) Rafi Saab’s, or Mukesh Bhaiyya or Asha’s (Bhosle) numbers, aspiring singers can get short-term attention,” Lata Mangeshkar added.

Mumbai, Sep 14 Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor, who has come out with a digital property called “Arjun Recommends”, said there is no room for bad content and for mediocrity as people are exposed to the best of cinema and also documentaries on OTT platforms.

“I’m extremely excited to be an actor living and working in today’s time. We are in the middle of a drastic change for the better and we should celebrate that. There is no room for bad content and definitely no room for mediocrity as people are exposed to the best of cinema, best of documentaries on the OTT,” Arjun said.

The “India’s Most Wanted” star said that the ride of OTT platforms has changed the game.

“If you see in the last couple of years, the quality of theatricals has become better. I do feel that we are witnessing the best period of disruption where each medium is pushing the other to do better, to produce content that stands out and are clutter-breaking. Today, truly content is king and it is the only thing that matters,” he said.

Arjun said that he would anyway prefer to sit at home and discover great shows and movies and binge on them than going out for a party.

“Watching disruptive, innovative content can expand one’s thinking about the kind of stuff audiences are watching in their homes. It can prepare us with information on what kind of films to make so that people feel the urge to come to the theatres,” he added

He also shared his vision for his social media property.

“‘Arjun Recommends’ is my attempt to bring together like-minded people who love to watch something good and clutter-breaking. This digital property is allowing me to engage with people from across India and understand from them what works,” he said.
