New Delhi, February 9: CPI-M chief Sitaram Yechury on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has destroyed the accountability to Parliament by refusing to answer members.

“Prime Minister refuses to answer a single point raised in the debate, destroying accountability to Parliament and people,” said Yechury said in a Facebook post.

“He has lowered the bar of Parliamentary democracy to near-obscene levels. Fascistic demagoguery is no substitute for accountability,” he added.

Yesterday PM Modi made a raincoat bribe at former prime minister Manmohan Singh and questioned his ‘clean’ record of 35 years as an economist. Congress walked out in protest and demanded an apology.

Yechury said after the motion of thanks was passed: This is completely unbecoming of a Prime Minister. This is not Parliamentary democracy and they (BJP) are taking it towards a level of their own dictatorship. They had an empty House except for the ruling party. Nobody was there when the motion of thanks was accepted. The honourable President would do well to consider whether to accept this motion of thanks.
