Yash chopra: “King of romance” remembered on his 84th birthday


Yash Chopra was born on 27th September 1932 in Lahore. He started his career as an assistant director under I. S. Johar and elder brother B. R. Chopra. He made his first directorial debut with ‘Dhool Ka Phool’ in 1959 and next in 1961- ‘Dharmputra’.

Yash Chopra was also known as King of romance and also directed many movies like Daag: A poem of love’ following his romantic tale in his soul, he made films like ‘Kabhie Kabhie’-1976, ‘Silsila’- 1981, ‘Chandni’- 1989, ‘Lamhe’- 1991, ‘Darr’- 1993, ‘DDLJ’- 1997, ‘Mohabbatein’- 2000, ‘Sathiya’- 2002, ‘Veer-Zaara’- 2004 and ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’- in 2012.

He is considered to be a man who creates love and romance in the Hindi Film industry. He also made songs which adds cheery to the cake in the films. Songs like ‘Kabhi Kabhie mere dil mein’ from ‘Silsila’, ‘Chandni O meri chandni’ from ‘Chandni’, ‘Jaadu teri najar’ from ‘Darr’, ‘Yeh lamhe yeh pal’.. from ‘Lamhe’.

He was also honoured six times with National Film Awards. Dharmputra, Chandni , Darr, DDLJ, Dil To Pagal Hai and Veer Zaara are the movies for which he was honoured.

After completing the shooting for Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Yash Ji dies at the age of 80 on October 21, 2012 . The epic filmmaker was also dignified for the contribution in the hindi film industry by giving Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.
