Knoxville, Aug 3: Glenn Jacobs, a popular WWE wrestler known as Kane has won an election for mayor of Knox County in Tennessee last night.
The 51-year-old professional wrestler had nearly two-thirds of the more than 80,000 total ballots cast, according to Knoxville ABC affiliate WATE.
Jacobs, a Republican, was contesting against Democratic nominee Linda Haney.
Kane stepped into wrestling in the early 1990s and became one of the longest-tenured performers in the histotry of WWE.
With this victory, Kane has become the second WWE fame to be elected to public office.
Earlier, Jesse Ventura served as mayor of Minnesota’s Brooklyn Park, from 1991-95 and then as governor of the state from 1999 to 2003.
