Would have ordered to shoot intellectuals if I were Home Minister, says BJP MP Yatna

New Delhi, July 27: Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Karnataka has sparked a controversy by terming liberals and intellectuals  as “anti-national”  and more dangerous to the nation than Pakistan and said that he would have ordered the police to shoot the intellectuals has he been the Union Home Minister.

Karnataka BJP Leader Basanagouda Patil Yatna said ” “These so-called progressive thinkers such as liberals , intellectuals  always support anti-national people. Intellectuals live in this country and use all facilities for which we pay tax.Then they raise slogans against our Army.India faces grave danger from them.If I was Home Minister,I would have issued orders to shoot them.”

 

Yatnal made these shocking statements at a Kargil Vijay Diwas event  in Vijayapura on Thursday.

“There are no sympathies  whenever our jawans are injured, instead of standing up for jawans , they accuse them of raping women in Kashmir,” he said.

He criticised  human right activists for not standing up for the jawans of the Indian Army when they were being attacked in Kashmir.

Yatnal has been BJP MLA from 1994 to 1999 and has served an MP form Bijapur between 1999-2009. He has also held the post of Minister of State for Textiles and Railways between 2002-04 under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

BJP leaders are known for giving controversial statements  and creating division among the society .
