With 46 MLAs, Khattar to stake claim to form government

Manohar Lal Khattar

New Delhi, Oct 25: Manohar Lal Khattar has claimed that BJP will form the government in Haryana with the help of independents. “We will tell you soon about swearing-in.” However, Khattar remained silent on the exact numbers he has managed to gather, nor did he comment on reports that tainted MLA Gopal Kanda is being offered a cabinet berth in return of his support to the Khattar govt.

Independent MLA from Sirsa, Gopal Kanda, who had resigned from Hooda government after being accused of abetting the suicide of an air hostess who worked for his aviation company in 2012, is now being offered the cabinet berth.

All independent candidates have extended their unconditional support to BJP. Kanda said, “My father was associated with RSS since 1926, fought 1st general elections of the country after independence on Jansangh ticket.”

Kanda had even been jailed in the case following which he was let off on bail. Four years later, Kanda along with his brother were charged for alleged illegal development in Sirsa. He is now emerging to be a key player in the elections since his party is said to be in touch with five other Independent MLAs.

Somvir Sangwan, Independent Winning Candidate from Haryana’s Dadri constituency on being asked if he will extend support to BJP led government: I have given my support.

The three MLAs are Dharampal Gondan, Nayanpal Rawat and Sombir Sangwan and extended support to the saffron party. “These three independent MLAs reached J P Nadda’s house with an intention to extend support to the BJP government,” said Yadav, who is accompanying the MLAs. Rakesh Daulatabad, an independent who won from Badshahpur constituency, is also meeting Nadda, he said.

“We have come here to extend our support to the Khattar government in Haryana,” Rawat, an independent MLA from Prithla constituency, said.
