Mumbai, Aug 2: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan says he will be proud of his daughter Suhana Khan when she is proud of herself and the work she does.

Suhana, 18, shot for her maiden interview and magazine shoot for Vogue India’s August 2018 issue. Shah Rukh himself unveiled the cover at the Vogue Beauty Awards 2018 here on Tuesday.

In the photos, we witness an ultra sultry Suhana. She oozed sexiness while posing for the cameras.

Talking about the cover, he said: “I hope it is not taken as an entitlement because she happens to be Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter but I hope it is seen as a responsibility that Suhana now has.

“And I think this is going to remove some of the entitlement she has because she happens to be my daughter. Insha Allah (God willing), she will work hard towards it.”

The 52-year-old star says he has been gifted to be in the company of so many fantastic women and hopes his 18-year-old daughter can join in and be one of them someday.

“She is 18, she is lovely, sensitive, sweet and extremely shy but also extremely strong. And I just want to thank you all who were behind all this and for making her look so nice.

“I will be proud of her when she is proud of herself and the job that she does and Insha Allah, she will do that,” he added.

The “Dilwale” star took to Twitter, where he shared a photograph of himself holding the magazine cover.

“Holding her in my arms again thanks to Vogue. ‘What imperfect carriers of love we are…’ except when it comes to our children. So, sending you all my love and a big hug,” he captioned the image.

Not just the ‘father of the girl’ but her mother Gauri too shared a behind the scenes video in which the young star-to-be talks about the “coolest trait” she shares with her father.

“I don’t think it’s cool, but we’re both shy,” said Suhana, who is seen flaunting multiple uber stylish looks.

Shah Rukh’s close friend and filmmaker Karan Johar too shared the magazine cover and said his heart is full of pride.

“She is stunning, soulful and a bona fide talent! Welcome to the spotlight my darling! Even in its harshest moments, it will envelope you with immense love and thank you for never calling me uncle,” Karan tweeted.

SRK in an interview with Vogue also clarified on Suhana’s debut in movies. He said, “Suhana’s not working towards a promise of being cast, she’s working towards being an actor, and she knows that. We have friends who are very well-meaning and think of my kids as their own, and they’re all happy and keen to launch her. Like Karan Johar. But I keep insisting that I don’t want them designed as stars, I want them to be launched when they are good-enough actors.”

Javed Akhtar takes a dig at news channels for ignoring farmers’ protests: ‘If Karan Johar had invited some farmers to his party…’

Javed Akhtar took a dig at news channels and sarcastically remarked that if Karan Johar had invited farmers to his party, they would not have to choose between covering Bollywood and the farmers’ protests.

Javed Akhtar took a dig at news channels prioritising Bollywood’s alleged drug links over the farmers’ protests in their coverage. The lyricist sarcastically remarked that if Karan Johar had invited farmers to his party, ‘life would have been easier’ for the channels, as they would not have to choose between Bollywood and the farmers’ protests.

“If Karan johar had invited some farmers too for his party life would have been easier for our TV channels. They would not have had to choose between farmers protest and Karan’s party!. it seems that Karan’s do is the second most favourite PARTY of our channels,” he wrote.

On Friday, more than 200 farmers’ groups across the country blocked roads and organised rallies in protest against three controversial farm bills passed in the monsoon session of the Parliament. The farmers worry that the new laws could potentially dismantle the current Minimum Support Price (MSP) system and leave them vulnerable to exploitation by agribusinesses.

Meanwhile, a video taken at one of Karan’s house parties last year has been under fresh scrutiny amid an investigation into Bollywood’s alleged drug links. Politician Manjinder Singh Sirsa renewed his claims that it was a ‘drug party’ and filed a complaint with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) earlier this month.

The video featured a number of prominent Bollywood personalities, including Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Vicky Kaushal, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Shahid Kapoor, and filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and Ayan Mukerji. However, none of them were seen consuming drugs in the clip.

The NCB found evidence of a potential drug racket in Bollywood, while investigating the drugs angle in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. His girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, was arrested earlier this month on charges of procuring drugs. She has been remanded to judicial custody till October 6.

Names of several Bollywood celebrities have come up in the investigation. The NCB has issued summons to Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh and Shraddha Kapoor. Reports suggest that 39 more Bollywood celebrities are under the scanner.

‘Where am I being sexist in this?’: Sunil Gavaskar responds after receiving flak for ‘inappropriate’ comments regarding Anushka Sharma

IPL 2020: Sunil Gavaskar expressed his side of the story, explaining how his comments related to Anushka Sharma were ‘twisted’ and taken the wrong way.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has cleared the air surrounding his comments on Virat Kohli and wife Anushka Sharma, saying his statements have been received the wrong way and that he never intended on being a ‘sexist’. Gavaskar stirred controversy when on air, he made a comment involving Kohli’s actor wife Anushka. This was after Kohli had dropped two catches and looked scratchy while batting.

This is what Gavaskar had said: “Ab jo lockdown tha toh unhone sirf Anushka ke saath bowling ki practice ki hai, usse toh kuch bhi nahi banna (During the lockdown, he has only practiced against Anushka’s bowling. Nothing was to come out of it.).”

It led to a Twitter meltdown with users slamming Gavaskar for crossing a line. Anushka herself took to social media and expressed her disappointment with the remarks through a post on Instagram.

Gavaskar, on Friday, expressed his side of the story, explaining how his comments were ‘twisted’ and whatever he said regarding Kohli stemmed from the fact that none of the senior India players were finding it easy to bat in the IPL due to lack of match practice.

“As you hear from the commentary, Aakash and I were doing commentary for the Hindi channel. And Aakash was talking about the fact that there has been very little chance for proper practice for everybody. That has actually shown in the rustiness of some of the players in their first matches. Rohit didn’t strike the ball well in his first match, MSD didn’t strike the ball well, Virat also didn’t strike the ball. Most of the batsmen have because of the lack of practice,” Gavaskar told India Today.

“That was the point that was being made. Virat also had no practice and the only practice that they had when they were seen them playing in their building compound and Anushka was bowling to him. That’s what I said. That’s the only bowling, I have not used any other word. She was bowling to him, that’s all. Where am I blaming her? Where am I being sexist in this? I am just stating what was seen in the video which was maybe recorded by somebody in the neighbouring buildings and then put up. That’s the only thing I am doing.”

It is not the first time Anushka has been blamed for Kohli’s failure with the bat. In 2015, when India were eliminated from the 2015 World Cup in the semifinal with Kohli scoring 1, his performances were linked to Anushka. Later on, in October of last, a comment made by former India wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer, which claimed that “One of the selectors was serving tea to Anushka Sharma during the 2019 World Cup” triggered a storm.

Gavaskar said his comments weren’t aimed to blame the actor and that it was just a mere reference. “The point I am trying to make is that there was no practice for anybody, including Virat in the lockdown. I am not being sexist. If somebody, has interpreted it, what can I do?” he said.

“I would like to say it again. Where am I blaming her? I am not blaming her. I am only saying that the video said that she was bowling to Virat. Virat has played only that bowling during the lockdown period. It’s a tennis ball, a fun game that people have to pass time during the lockdown. That’s all. Where am I blaming her for Virat’s failures?”

Gavaskar even said he would never cross the line as he himself has been a believer of cricketers’ wives travelling with them on tours.

“You know me, I am the one who has always batted for wives going with husbands on tour. I am the one that a normal guy going to the office for a 9-5 job, when he comes back home, he comes back to his wife. Similarly, cricketers, when they go out for a tour or even when they are playing at home, why can’t they have their wives with them?” Gavaskar added.

“Because after their working hours are over, they have to get back to their wives like every other common man does. So, I am not blaming her.”

Sajay Raut: Sushant case will be politicised in Bihar

“After the abrogation of Article 370 by Home Minister Amit Shah, why didn’t the government think of setting up a film city even in the Kashmir Valley…it would have brought a lot of business to Jammu and Kashmir,” Raut pointed out.

Mumbai, Sep. Sep 25 : Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Friday said that the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and the resultant investigations into the drug cases would be “politicised during the Bihar elections” announced this afternoon.

“It was a long-planned drama… The Bihar government does not have any developmental or governance issues to speak about… They have started campaigning with posters of Sushant. So, it’s obvious why the Sushant case and drugs matters were blown out of proportion,” Raut told mediapersons.

He demanded to know that with the drugs case handled by the Narcotics Control Bureau, “what has happened to the CBI probe in the Sushant case” now that the former Bihar DPG Gupteshwar Pandey has quit the IPS to contest state polls.

Replying to a query on the questioning of various personalities from the film industry, he said the NCB’s role is to stop the cross-border smuggling of narcotics from various countries into India by air, sea or surface routes.

“But, here they are coming and interrogating individuals… It’s their prerogative to summon anyone… But the drug menace seems to be all-pervading,” he said.

“The Covid pandemic situation has thrown up an unprecedented situation all over the country… Is this the right time to conduct the Bihar elections? Is the pandemic over?” Raut wondered.

To a question on the proposed film city coming up in Uttar Pradesh, he said it’s a welcome development and the entertainment industry can create huge employment opportunities.

“After the abrogation of Article 370 by Home Minister Amit Shah, why didn’t the government think of setting up a film city even in the Kashmir Valley…it would have brought a lot of business to Jammu and Kashmir,” Raut pointed out.

However, he dismissed all contentions that a film city in UP would diminish the importance of Mumbai – the country’s film capital.

“Nobody is going to quit Maharashtra and go to UP…They will all remain here… Mumbai’s film industry has been set up with blood, sweat and tears and it can never lose its importance. Merely by shifting the film city or a few government departments cannot impact the significance of Mumbai,” Raut asserted.
