New Delhi, May 24: In a sensational murder case, a 37-year-old woman, who hatched a plot with her occultist paramour to eliminate her husband, has been arrested, police said on Tuesday.
Police also found the cloth allegedly used by Aruna to strangle her husband Nathuni Prasad last month.
The murder allegedly took place on 7 April in Delhi’s Defence Colony.
Initially, the police did not find any clue as deceased’s wife appeared to be in shock and was unable to explain what happened.
However, the post-mortem report revealed that the death caused by suffocation after which police registered a FIR.
While investigating the matter, police found Aruna’s mobile phone number, which she had not told earlier, and call details revealed she was in contact with Paswan, who hails from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur.
Aruna, along with the occultist, Sanjeev Paswan, planned a conspiracy to kill Prasad in March, and Paswan gave her sleeping pills, police said.
As per Paswan’s plan, she mixed sleeping pills in Prasad’s dinner on April 6 and later throttled him to death, police said.
On April 7, the body of 54-year-old Prasad was taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences by his son and it was declared that he died while sleeping, police said.
“She broke down during questioning and accepted the crime but the occultist is absconding,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Ishwar Singh.
