Who said what on SC’s Right to Privacy decision


New Delhi, Aug 24: A nine judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar on Thursday ruled that the right to privacy is a fundamental right.

The apex court decision overruled the previous verdicts in the M P Sharma and Kharak Singh cases, which had found that the right to privacy was not protected under the Constitution of India.

The bench observed that right to privacy is an intrinsic to freedom of life and personal liberty guaranteed under Article 21 and entire Part III of the Constitution.
