Watch Pulwama encounter: Terrorist killed after denying wife’s pleas to surrender

SRINAGAR, 10 March: Out of the two militants who were killed in a fierce encounter in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Thursday, terrorist Mohammad Safiq Shergujri’s Wife provided every assistance to the troops while forcing the militant to surrender but despite these efforts, he continued to fire and was finally killed.

The incident clearly suggests that the troops put their all efforts to avoid neutralising the militant despite being fired upon, leading them to call his family to help him see sense.

While the cordon was being placed, one terrorist was eliminated when he tried to run away, following which the second terrorist, Mohammad Safiq Shergujri took cover in a cluster of houses.

Upon realisation that he is a local, in a bid to avoid any further bloodshed and to bring the terrorist back to the line, security forces brought forth Shergujri’s wife Dilshada to the encounter site, to persuade him to surrender.

His 25-yr old wife could be seen crying telling him to return back by making announcements on a loudhailer but to no avail, as the terrorist did not relent to her pleas and refused to surrender.

The woman was extended complete assistance and it was conveyed through her that no harm would be done if he surrenders, however, despite this humane approach, Shergujri began engaging with the security forces.

But after there was no choice, the troops in a methodical and coordinated search, eliminated the terrorist.

Two weapons were recovered from the two slain terrorists and the house in which they were holed up was also brought down.
