Polling time for Delhi Municipal polls ends

New Delhi, April 23: Polling ended at 5: 30 pm on Sunday morning for municipal elections in Delhi across 272 wards.

More than 2,500 candidates’ fate enclosed today for elections to North Delhi Municipal Corporation and South Delhi Municipal Corporation (104 seats each) and East Delhi Municipal Congress (64 seats).

39% voting recorded till 4 pm in Delhi MCD Elections 2017.

Over 1.32 crore eligible voters were likely to vote at 13,022 polling booths across the city.

Leaders of various political parties including the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress have cast their ballot early in the day.

Congress leader Ajay Maken cast his vote earlier Today in Rajouri Garden.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his family also seen casting their vote at a polling booth in Road Transport Office in Civil Lines.

Over 56,000 Delhi Police and paramilitary personnel were pressed at the polling booths, while an additional 20,000 home guards deployed to ensure law and order in the city on the election day.

The counting of votes will take place on April 26.
