New Delhi, July 17: National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has decided to name Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu as its vice presidential candidate.
The decision was taken at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Board meeting, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party’s president Amit Shah and other top leaders were present.
After the high-level board meeting, BJP President Amit Shah announced the name of M. Venkaiah Naidu as their vice presidential candidate.
Venkaiah Naidu has a lot of experience, all NDA allies have welcomed this decision, Shah added.
The Vice President’s election slated to be held on August 5.
While the last date for filing nomination papers for the vice-presidential election is July 18, Tuesday.
The term of present Vice President Hamid Ansari, who is also ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, ends on August 10.
