Lucknow, July 13 : The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms and lightning accompanied with rain during next three hours in several district in Uttar Pradesh after as many as 15 people lost their lives and 133 buildings collapsed in the state after heavy downpour across the state since July 9 which triggered flood-like situations and waterlogging in 14 districts.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted, “Thunderstorms and lightning accompanied with rain are very likely to occur today during next three hours at isolated places over Azamgarh, Mau, Sultanpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Ballia districts & adjoining areas.”
According to official data, 15 people have lost their lives, 23 animals were killed while 133 buildings collapsed due to rain-related incidents in the past four days from July 9 to 12.
Among the districts that were affected by the natural calamity are Unnao, Ambedkar Nagar, Prayagraj, Barabanki, Hardoi, Khiri, Gorakhpur, Kanpur Nagar, Pilibhit, Sonabhadra, Chandoli, Firozabad, Mau and Sultanpur.
On Saturday, normal life in Prayagraj got affected at Sangam after water level of river Ganga increases following heavy rainfall.
According to IMD, heavy rainfall at isolated places over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura is expected on Saturday.
