Uttar Pradesh: Property leader shot dead in Lucknow

Lucknow, Sep 2 : A property dealer was shot dead in broad daylight on Wednesday near the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in the state capital.

The property dealer, Durgesh Yadav, was taken to the Trauma Centre where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a monetary dispute was the reason behind the murder.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) east, Charu Nigam, told reporters that one of the accused, Manish Yadav, had been arrested and a search had been launched for the other accused Palak Thakur.

The police said that the deceased had criminal antecedents and was a history-sheeter from Gorakhpur.

The deceased and the accused were both involved in a fake mark sheet racket and also real estate business.

Meanwhile, the body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigations are on.

Srinagar, Oct 19 : Suspected terrorists gunned down a police inspector in the Chandpora Bijbehara area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.

The police said that terrorists fired upon a police inspector identified as inspector Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, a resident of Chandpora Kanelwan, near his residence.

“The officer received gunshot injuries and was evacuated to a nearby hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital,” the police said.

The police have registered a case in this regard under the relevant sections of law.

A wreath laying ceremony led by IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar was held at DPL Anantnag, where floral tributes were paid to the martyr.

Unemployment Rate In Bihar Lesser Than Delhi: CMIE

Patna: While the political temperature in Bihar is high on the issue of unemployment, the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) has issued data for September wherein the unemployment rate in Bihar is lower than Delhi and Uttarakhand.

As per the report, the unemployment rate in Delhi is 12.5 per cent, while in Bihar it is 11.9 per cent.

Seizing the opportunity, the BJP tweeted on the report and sought a reply from RJD leader Tejajwi Yadav, who in every political rally claims that the unemployment rate of Bihar is 46 per cent.

The report further said that the national unemployment rate during the lockdown in April was 23.5 per cent, which declined to 21.7 per cent in June. In September, the national unemployment rate declined further to 7.4 per cent.

As far as other states are concerned, Uttrakhand topped the chart at 22.3 per cent, followed by Haryana (19.7 per cent), Tripura (17.4 per cent), Jammu and Kashmir (16.2 per cent), and Rajasthan (15.3 per cent).

The lowest unemployment rate was found in Assam and Chhattisgarh at just 2 per cent, followed by Odisha (2.1 per cent), Karnataka (2.4 per cent), Gujarat (3.4 per cent), Telangana (3.3 per cent), Uttar Pradesh (4.2 per cent) and Maharashtra (4.5 per cent).

The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday filed a chargesheet against former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Tahir Hussain for money laundering case related to the communal violence in northeast Delhi in February.

The court has taken cognizance of the chargesheet and ordered that Hussain be produced in the court on October 19. Hussain is currently in jail for allegedly conspiracy in Delhi riots.

Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat took cognisance of the offences under section 3 (money laundering) read with section 70 (offences by companies) punishable under section 4 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, against Hussain and co-accused Amit Gupta.

The ED was probing the allegation that Hussain and his linked persons laundered about Rs 1.10 crore funds by using purported shell or dummy companies to fuel the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the riots.

Communal violence had broken out in northeast Delhi on February 24 after clashes between citizenship law supporters and protesters spiralled out of control, leaving at least 53 people dead and around 200 injured.
