Uttar Pradesh: One killed, two injured as clash breaks out between two communities in Kasganj

Lucknow, Jan 27: One person died and two were injured on Friday after a clash broke out between two communities during ‘Tiranga Yatra’ to mark Republic Day in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj. 

Both the groups reportedly pelted stones at each other and also fired bullets at each other, news agency ANI reported.

Deceased has been identified as Chandan Gupta (22). He died after suffering a bullet injury on the Chest.

“The rally was taken out without permission from the administration”, the Indian Express quoted, Rakesh Kumar, Additional District Magistrate, Kasganj was saying.

The clash erupted after “unauthorised” yatra was being taken out from a communally-sensitive area, during which some youths, participating in the rally, allegedly raised objectionable slogans.

Following the communal clash, the security has been beefed up in the city.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family was demanding the status of a martyr for the deceased.
