Uttar Pradesh encounters: Families of deceased say not given FIRs, others not even bodies

New Delhi, Aug 22: In a shocking revelation, the families of alleged criminals, who were killed Uttar Pradesh encounter, said they have not been given either the FIR or the post-mortem report and some claimed police didn’t hand over even the bodies.

According to the Indian Express report, in one of the post-mortem report, it is indicated the man had been dead “three-four” days.

As per the analysis, among 63 killed, kin of more than 20 have moved the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), state rights panel (SHRC), National Commission for Minorities (NCM), or other forums. In 39 cases, the police investigation is underway, the NHRC has ordered an investigation into 17 while four are being probed by the SHRC.

Since the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government came into the power in March 2017, the police carried out 2,351 shootouts and killed 63 alleged criminals until August 4 this year.
