New Delhi, February 16: Bollywood’s shot-gun star and Bharatiya Janata Party senior leader Shatrughan Sinha is surprised to find that his name was not present in the list of 40 star campaigners for the ongoing Uttar Pradesh assembly elections campaigns.
It is well known that Bihari Babu, Sinha has always been critical of Narendra Modi-led central government ever since it came to power. He had raised a controversy last year when he said centre’s demonetisation drive was not implemented properly due to lack of homework.
Earlier too, when BJP lost the Bihar Assembly elections, Sinha had said that the loss of BJP in Bihar was due to party’s stance to overlook senior party members, including him who has good relations in the local assembly.
This time however Sinha avoided a controversy and added that he hopes the decision is being undertaken for party’s good and welfare. He said he wants party to prosper anyways.
As per ANI Shatru said, “Was surprised my name wasn’t there in campaigners’ list but it must be for party’s good, I also want good for Party.”
PTI quoted him saying, “Shatrughan Sinha who has for long served as star campaigner for BJP in elections in UP and is well versed with every nook and corner of the state has been kept out of the list of campaigners for the party in UP.”
As for inclusion of name of TV actress turned politician, Smriti Irani, who is also the present Union Textile Minister, he said, “In the eyes of leadership she and others in the list must have been very important…I have nothing to say; people will decide.”
He also however added to this he also maintains cordial ties with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD President Lalu Prasad. “I am a product of healthy politics practised by Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan to follow an ideology and not hate any person,” said Shatrughan Sinha.
