The pitch is ready for Uttar Pradesh electro-political battle with major political parties finalising the alliances ,their candidates and strategies that could reflect the main metrics of the trend that will continue till 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The air is amply clear with three most powerful political families — Samajwadi party represented by Akhilesh Yadav ,Congress led by Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Lok Dal represented by AJit Singh joining hands for a secular alliance that is likely to absorb small parties like the Apna Dal ,The peace Party chief Mohamad Ayub and others to form ‘Mahagathbandhan’ bigger than one witnessed in Bihar that succeeded in defeating BJP .
Meanwhile ,JD-U’s Nitish Kumar, Sharad Pawar of NCP, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav will campaign for the Akhilesh-Rahul alliance to ensure the defeat of BJP which has gone into the hands of the one-man show PM Nartendra Modi .
The conspiracy of dividing Akhilesh faction and Mulayam group by BJP President Amit Shah have already failed miserable as Akhilesh’s Samajwadi party has been strengthened consequent upon EC verdict of cycle symbol which have dampened the spirits of the has boomeranged by Modi led BJP.Akhilesh is set to give 100 seats to Congress,25-30 seats to Ajit Singh in the 403 member House .
The BJP chances are bleak since after Atal Bihari Vajpayee there is no mass leader in the state in whose name it can fight the elections in the most populous and pivotal state .Besides, even BJP’s think tank Arun Shourie has criticised Modi’s demonetisation saying “Somebody gets a brainwave and because nobody can oppose them there is demonetisation and You can see this from the fact that every day they are inventing something new-where ever the arrow falls that is the target.”
This time even the Modi wave does not exist at all and the people are so outraged and disillusioned with Modi’s governance that they will dump him absolutely and forever .Even the BSP of Mayawati is going to gain much from the communal politics of BJP by ghar wapsi, beef ban, attacks on Muslims and Christians ,provocative statements of some BJP lawmakers . Out of the 403 seats ,the BSP list consists of 97 Muslim candidates ,87 Dalits and 106 OBCs,113 seats allocated to upper castes .
Twenty seven years the congress has not been able to show their sizable existence in Uttar Pradesh but this time Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has succeeded in reviving the party by visiting every nook and corner of the state and demanding justice for farmers and jobs for the unemployed youth.
In the 2012 Assembly election,SP bagged 224 seats out of 401 contested , while Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party managed to win 80 seats from 403 it contested .
Modi is aware of the fact that people are not in favour of supporting BJP in Uttar Pradesh elections which is why he floated an idea of holding simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections but that didn’t materialise and then he suddenly announced demonetisation with an argument to eliminate black money in a haphazard and arbitrary manner .This will prove to be a watershed moment in the politics of the state and the country that will wipe out BJP in the next lok sabha polls.
