UP ATS officer Rajesh Sahni commits suicide

Lucknow, May 29: Uttar Pradesh ATS Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Sahni allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday. 

ADG, Law and Order, Anand Kumar said “Sahni committed suicide by shooting himself on the temple at 1245 hrs in his office with an official weapon. The reason for suicide is being ascertained”.

According to the reports, Sahni originally belonged to Bihar capital Patna and was posted as the additional superintendent of police at the Uttar Pradesh ATS since July 2014.

Recruited in July 1997, he was a 1992 batch Provincial Police Services (PPS)officer.

Earlier this month, Mumbai Joint Commissioner of Police IPC Himanshu Roy also committed suicide by shooting himself at his residence.

He had been reportedly suffering from cancer for a long time and was on leave for more than a year.

A Chartered Accountant by training, Roy was a 1988 batch IPS officer.
