New Delhi, April 20, 2017: The special cell of Delhi police and Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Thursday busted an Islamic State-inspired module and held three from the National capital.
This comes after the UP ATS conducted raids in a joint operation with the special cell of Delhi police, Maharashtra ATS, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab Police.
“UP ATS conducted joint anti-terror raids in Maharashtra, Punjab, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in coordination with police of the five states,” UP ATS Chief Asim Arun told media.
Arun said that three persons have been arrested in Mumbai, Jalandhar and Bijnor for conspiring to carry out terror activities.
“The police is interrogating six other persons. Legal action will be taken on the basis of evidence,” he said.
The raids were conducted after the police received information that a group was being formed to launch terror operations and some active members were in the process of recruiting new members.
