UP: After Deoria now 19 women missing from Hardoi’s shelter home

Lucknow, Aug 7: In yet another incident of ‘horror’ shelter home, at least 19 women have been reportedly found missing in Hardoi.

According to News 18 report, ‘Swadhar Grah’ home shelter located in Hardoi’s Beniganj area had 21 girls registered as inmates. But at the time when district magistrate Pulkit Khare inspected the shelter, only two were present.

The incident comes into the limelight at the time when the country is already stunned by the Deoria and Muzaffarpur shelter home cases.

Around 24 girls were rescued from the shelter in Deoria on Sunday late night after a 10-year-old girl, told the police that they were being sexually abused.

This comes days after, 34 minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted in the Balika Grih, a short-stay girls’ shelter home run by an NGO in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar.

The alleged sexual exploitation was highlighted by social audit report submitted by the Mumbai-based Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS).
