Unnao rape victim injured in car crash: Opposition demands CBI probe over ‘murder conspiracy’

Lucknow, July 29 : Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav termed the accident of the Unnao rape survivor, who is now on a life support, as a ‘murder conspiracy’ by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and demanded CBI investigation into the incident.

In a statement, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh said, “The accident involving the Unnao rape victim in Rae Bareli is a serious incident, and there could be the possibility of murder behind this incident.”

The Unnao rape victim, who had accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar of raping her, was travelling to Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh along with her lawyer, Mahendra Singh, and two relatives when the accident happened.

Congress spokesperson Aradhana Mishra also stated that an investigation into matter was necessary as the Unnao rape victim met with an accident under “mysterious circumstances.”

Akhilesh condemned the Yogi Adityanath government for ushering a “jungle raj” in the state, the SP chief demanded a CBI probe in the accident case.

He said, “This incident has links with a BJP MLA and there is BJP government in the state. There is ‘jungle raaj’ in the state. The criminals are roaming fearlessly. Only a CBI probe will solve this mystery.”

After a truck collided with the Unnao rape victim’s car, both her relatives succumbed to their injuries. The rape survivor and her lawyer, Mahendra Singh, were taken to King George Medical University (KGMU) Trauma Centre in a critical condition. They are currently undergoing treatment.
