New Delhi, Dec 5: The Unnao rape survivor with 90% burns will be airlifted from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. She was undergoing treatment at the Unnao Civil Hospital.
The rape survivor was attacked by the accused as they wanted to take ‘revenge’ from her. The five accused allegedly poured kerosene on the 23-year-old survivor when she was going to the court and set her ablaze. She suffered 90 per cent burns in the incident. The four men have been arrested but one, the main accused is still absconding.
The Lucknow Police has been ordered to make all necessary arrangements for airlifting. The survivor will reach the national capital by 6.30 pm.
The survivor was set ablaze as she reported the crime to the police. She had been raped in March this year and the accused were out on bail.
“We got the information in the morning. The woman gave the names of the accused. We had formed teams to arrest them,” said Vikrant Vir, a senior police official from Unnao.
In March, the woman had filed a first information report against two men from her paternal village in Unnao, accusing them of raping her and also filming the act. The FIR was filed in the neighbouring Rae Bareli district reportedly after the intervention of a local court.
