Union Cabinet approves 10 percent quota for economically backward upper caste

New Delhi, Jan 7: The Union Cabinet on Monday approved 10 percent reservation for economically weaker upper caste sections of the society.

Reservations have been approved in Government sector jobs and education.

According to news agency IANS sources the government was likely to introduce a constitutional amendment bill in Parliament on Tuesday to push for 10 per cent extra reservation for economically deprived sections among general categories.

Recating to the this, Congress leader Harish Rawat said ” ‘Bohot der kar di meherbaan aate aate’, that also when elections are around the corner. No matter what they do, what ‘jumlas’ they give, nothing is going to save this Government”.

Meanwhile, former Jammu and Kahsmir Chief Minister stated “Reservation for economically backward upper castes. The bugle announcing the elections has well and truly sounded”.
