New Delhi, March 28: The Congress on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi mocked poor people over Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY) scheme which intends to directly transfer Rs 72,000 to bank accounts of beneficiaries.

It is unfortunate that when we speak of ‘NYAY’, Mr. Modi mocks the poor of the country. Previously he had mocked the poor of the country during demonetisation, this shows his true character, said Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala while addressing a press conference.

“It is unacceptable that PM Modi opposed ‘NYAY’ scheme that empowers the poor of the country by giving Rs. 72,000 annually”.

The Congress leader further stated PM Modi should apologise to the country for mocking the poor of the country.

While addressing a rally in Meerut, PM Modi took a swipe at the Congress’ minimum income scheme by asking how they will directly transfer money when they couldn’t open bank account.
