Unacceptable! Woman body with intestines out, describing rape’s vast pain


The nation gave her a name Nirbhaya, young life which was on her way to fulfil her wishes, goals, shine her parents name with devotion of hard work, but all her aspirations were clamped brutally on the darkest night of December 16, 2012 by five accused including a juvenile which was released after serving just three years yet crossing the line of animalism. Again the horrible memories of the malicious crime refreshed as a 30-year-old woman was allegedly raped and brutally murdered at her home in Perumbavor, Ernakulam district on 28 April.

Shockingly, the incident took place where people consider themselves the most safe, at her home. The Dalit woman, was a law student, could never realised that one day she have to face such a pain that will take her life away.

The woman lived with her mother. The body was recovered in a vastly bad condition on Friday night when her mother returned home from work. The condition in which the body found was itself describing the extreme pain she felt, even the screams could be realised from the deep wounds found on dead body.

According to the police, the woman was strangulated. Her intestines had come out and there were deep wounds on various parts of the body.

The victim’s neighbour said the family was reclusive. Woman was the only support of her mother as the girl’s father was estranged for several years.

Five days have been passed to the incident in which a woman’s dignity is completely shattered but no one is coming ahead to take a responsibility either political parties are imposing responsibilities on each other. CPI-M attacked state government for ‘inaction’ in the case.

However, Rural SP Yathish Chandra said they were yet to receive the postmortem report, so rape could not be ascertained. The CPM accused the Congress-led UDF government of inaction in tracing the culprits. “Police have failed to get any leads about the culprits days after the incident,” CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said. Rejecting the charge, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said a “scientific” probe was being conducted into the incident and asserted the culprits would be brought to book. Police said Ernakulam Range IG Mahipal Yadav has launched a probe headed by the Perumbavoor Deputy SP.

Meanwhile, Police have detained two persons in the connection of rape and Murder, investigation is underway.
