Umar Khalid, Anirban’s judicial custody extends for 14 days

The Delhi court has extended the Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya’s judicial custody for 14 more days as both JNU students are facing charges of sedition for their role in February 9 event on the campus.

Last week, Khalid and Bhattacharya had moved the High Court seeking protection in order to surrender but the court, while directing the students to surrender, adjourned the hearing for protection.

Meanwhile, taking a step forward in their agitation JNU students will march to Parliament demanding release of Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and SAR Geelani who are jail in a sedition case.

Students union president Kanhaiya Kumar who was released on bail on March 3, is also likely to participate in the march which will start from Mandi House at 2.00 pm.
