The former finance minister and senior Congress leader on Thursday took a jibe at UIDAI’s move to secure Aadhaar data by introducing virtual IDs.

In a tweet, the leader stated that this move by UIDAI is like locking the stable after horses have bolted. The leader claimed that under compulsion, millions of persons have already shared Aadhaar number with many service providers so new security layer is meaningless.

Addressing privacy concerns after a news report claimed a breach in the Aadhaar database, the UIDAI on Wednesday(10th January) announced a new two-layer system to strengthen the security of Aadhaar number holders which would do away with the need to share the unique ID for verification purposes.
