Raipur, July 5 : Two Naxals , each carrying a cash reward of Rs 8 lakh on their head, were gunned down in an encounter in Narayanpur district of south Chhattisgarh and another carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head was arrested and sent to police remand .
Two Naxals were killed in a gun battle with the District Reserve Guard (DRG) in Narayanpur district of south Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. The DRG teams also recovered one 12-bore gun and one submachine gun.
For the first time, the troopers in Chhattisgarh seized a foreign-made automatic sub-machine gun, besides two other firearms, they said.
Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Shukla said Security forces received information that the Naxals camping in the forest to target troopers. Troopers were providing security to the Narayanpur-Sonpur road construction work in the region.
He further said, “four separate teams of the DRG launched an operation on July 2 towards Balebeda, Badapenda, Kangali, Parbeda and Irpanar villages to trace the ultras.”
