Just after two days of BJP’s grand victory in Tripura, the state has been witnessing violence and arson-related incidents. A video is also doing rounds which shows BJP workers allegedly tearing down a statue of Vladimir Lenin.
In the video, people could be seen wearing t-shirts of ‘Chalo Paltai’ the slogan used by BJP before the election and in their election campaign. The people who demolished the Lenin statue are also chanting “Bharat Mata ki Jai.”
Other than the demolition of Lenin statue, several reports of attacks on Communist party’s offices came in the limelight.

Meanwhile, the national general secretary and northeast in-charge of the BJP, Ram Madhav, who is also credited for the party’s win in Tripura, instead of condemning it, voiced his support towards the act of vandalism as a move towards change.
The leader shared a photo of the people who tear down Lenin’s statue and wrote,” People taking down Lenin’s statue … not in Russia; it is in Tripura. “Chalo Paltai”
It seems that the leader deleted the tweet just after the criticism by political parties and Communist party’s accusation that BJP workers are spreading violence across the state.
The BJP-IPFT alliance scripted history by winning 43 seats, ending 25 years of uninterrupted rule of the CPI(M)-led Left Front in the state.
