TV reporter barged into my bedroom says Yasin Malik

Srinagar, May 19: Clearing the stand, JKLF leader Yaseen Malik on Friday told police that a lady TV reporter barged into his bedroom and after some time accused him of “manhandling her”.

While talking to reporters, Malik expressed that the journalist whom he did not name — had not sought an appointment to interview him.

He claimed that she lied to his sister that she had an appointment for an interview with him.

“She suddenly barged into my bedroom when I was asleep and starting shooting and recording on her mobile phone,” the leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front said.

“This shocked me. I objected to her behaviour. I snatched her mobile phone and asked her to leave my bedroom. She then started crying and alleging that I had manhandled her.”

Malik also asked that, “I am asking the media fraternity whether this is the right way of interviewing a person?”

He also informed that he had lodged a complaint of criminal and malicious trespass against the journalist.

Lalu Yadav’s provisional bail extended till July 3

Ranchi, June 22: The Ranchi Court on Friday extended a provisional bail of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav till 3rd July.

Besides this, the court fixed June 29 to hear the plea of extending the bail period.

Earlier in the month, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief returned to Patna from Mumbai, where was undergoing treatment for his heart-related problem.

However, he was brought to Asian Heart Institute in Mumbai on Tuesday, following chest pain and low hemoglobin count.

On a related note, a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi awarded 37 accused to jail terms between three to 14 years in April, in connection with the aforementioned case.

Among the 37 people, public servant O. P. Diwakar was sentenced to imprisonment of 14 years and a fine of Rs 2 crore; while 15 other public servants were given seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs1 crore each.

The case was filed by the probe agency on April 15, 1996, in compliance with the orders of the Patna High Court.

It involves fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 34.91 crore from the treasury of Bihar’s Dumka between 1991 and 1996.

New Delhi, June 22: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for denying time to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and termed it “unprecedented high-handedness”.

Kejriwal raised the issue while referring to a media report on Twitter which claimed that the Prime Minister’s Office has refused an appointment to the Kerala Chief Minister for the fourth time in a row.

“How can duly elected Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan be denied time by the Prime Minister. They wanted to discuss important issue of ration concerning poor people. The Prime Minister refusing to meet a Chief Minister for four times in a row! Unprecedented high-handedness. Whither federalism?” Kejriwal tweeted.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi appointed JD Seelam and Mahendra Joshi as the Secretary and Shashi Kant Sharma as the Joint Secretary, All India Congress Committee (AICC) attached with the General Secretary, Incharge Organisation.

Besides this, the Congress appointed Screening Committees for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Odisha and Mizoram.
