Trump’s Order to Open Arctic Waters to Oil Drilling Unlawful: Federal Judge

Donald Trump Trade War

Washington, March 31 : A federal judge in Alaska declared that President Donald Trump’s order revoking a sweeping ban on oil and gas drilling in the Arctic and Atlantic oceans is illegal, delivering a win to environmentalists while putting 128 million acres of federal waters off limits to energy exploration.

Trump’s effort to open more areas to drilling “is unlawful, as it exceeds the president’s authority,” Judge Sharon Gleason ruled.

The ruling is a defeat for the president as well as for oil companies eager to keep new territory open for exploration.
