Trump again offers to mediate on Kashmir issue

Trump and Modi

New Delhi, Feb 25; Despite the fact that India has rejected the mediation in Kashmir numerous times, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday repeated his offer of mediating between India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issues, saying he is ready to mediate.
“We talked a lot about it at length today. No question it is a problem. They are working on it. I said I will do whatever I can do to help because my relationship with both gentlemen (Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan PM Imran Khan) is so good. Anything I can do to mediate, I would do,” he said.
” They (Pakistan) are working on Kashmir.Kashmir has been a thorn in lots of people’s mind and sight for a long time. there are two sides to every story,” Trump made the comments during a press conference in Delhi, in response to a question on terrorism from Pakistani soil.
The American President, who arrived yesterday for a 36-hour visit, his first ever, again did not lose any opportunity to praise PM Modi, saying he “is a strong man, I have seen him in action, he will take care of it.”

Asked about previous times when he spoke about mediation and India rejecting his offer, Trump said: “I didn’t say anything about that (being mediator). Kashmir obviously is a big problem between India and Pakistan, they are going to work out their problem. They have been doing it for a long time.”

Trump had proposed to mediate to resolve Kashmir issue in January during his talks with Imran Khan in the US.

US President Donald Trump , who is in India for 36 hours , praised PM Modi immensely and India’s diverse culture, said Prime Minister is in favour of religious freedom, in the backdrop of violence over the contentious citizenship law.
