Triple Talaq A Dying Practice, SC scrutiny May Revive It, Says Kapil Sibal

May 17 , Wednesday : On day 5 of the Supreme Court hearings over Triple Talaq, Kapil Sibal said this challenging constitutional validity of triple talaq may have a reviving  impact on a dying practice of divorce as it is practiced by a very small portion of Muslim community and is relatively falling down by referring to figure of 0.44 per cent.

Sibal also compared Muslim community with small birds on which the Golden Eagle preys and said the community’s nests must have the apex court protection.

But if a secular court like SC entertain its scrutiny Sui Mitu and Centre pitches in for its ban, Muslim community may take a rigid stand, He added.

When Supreme Court asked AIMPLB counsel Kapil Sibal, whether it can issue a directive to all Qazis to enter in a Nikah Nama the women’s acceptance of triple talaq.

In response to this, Sibal said AIMPLB will respond to this after talking to all board members.

Sibal said Muslim community has faith in SC for last 67 yrs is fundamental and it is this faith that makes the country vibrant.

The Supreme Court emerges instant practice of TripleTalaq not a part of Quran. Refers to Fri prayers where biddat (anything added to Quran) is called a sin.
