Transgender activist Apsara Reddy appointed as National General Secretary of Mahila Congress

New Delhi, Jan 8: Apsara Reddy, one of the most well-known transgender journalist and activist has been appointed as National General Secretary, All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) on Tuesday by party president Rahul Gandhi.

With this, Reddy became the first transgender office bearer in the organisation.

Reddy is a Journalism Graduate and holds Masters degree in Broadcasting with a special focus on Developmental Economics.

She has worked with the BBC World Service, The Hindu and big media organisations.

As a transgender woman, Apsara has been involved in Human Interest issues since her college days and also has taken up high-profile cases of Child Rape.
