New Delhi, Aug 4 : Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal on Saturday taunted the Narendra Modi government , saying the Prime Minister helped his “Bhai” Mehul Choksi to escape India and now trying to pose by requesting his extradition.
Without mentioning Modi’s name ,Kapil Sibal took on twitter and has written a request letter to Antigua to help Mehul to escape, “To Antigua with love Mehul is someone’s Bhai allowed to let him fly police did certify to help him say goodbye. Once he is out of sight ,ask them to extradite he must now face the law not yet , wounds are still raw. Help him escape for our bhai’s sake !
To Antigua with love
Mehul is someone's Bhai
allowed to let him fly
police did certify
to help him say goodbye
Once he is out of sight
ask them to extradite
he must now face the law
not yet , wounds are still raw
Help him escape
for our bhai's sake !

The Congress, however, says the statement by the Antigua government had uncovered new facts that demonstrate the “the active connivance and complicity of every agency of Modi Government.”
Fugitive Indian jeweller Mehul Choksi, wanted in a Rs 13,500 crore bank fraud, was given Antiguan citizenship after “stringent background checks” and a clearance certificate from the Indian authorities, the Antiguan government has said.
The Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) of Antigua and Barbuda said that while conducting background checks on Choksi, it found that the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had initiated investigations against him twice. But the cases, according to India’s market regulator, had been closed.
Antigua’s Citizenship by Investment Unit, or CIU said it had sought and received clearance from the Mumbai passport office certifying that there was no adverse information against the jeweller. It also transpired that two investigations had been initiated by the securities market regulator SEBI but had been closed later.
