New Delhi, Jan 21, 2017: Tamil Nadu Governor Vidya Sagar Rao, who holds additional charge of the state, on Saturday gave his concurrence for the emergency ordinance to hold Jallikattu, the bull taming sport banned by Supreme Court.
The state cabinet had recommended the ordinance to allow Jallikattu to the Governor for promulgation.
The ruling party of Tamil Nadu, AIADMK tweeted:
The Bill to replace today's Ordinance will be tabled in the State Assembly on January 23 when the first Assembly session begins.

Meanwhile, the party said, “Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam will inaugurate traditional bull-taming sports Jallikattu at Alanganallur at 10 am on Sunday.”
While the state ministers will inaugurate Jallikattu in their respective districts tomorrow at 11 am.
On Friday, the central government gave its nod to an ordinance enabling the holding of Jallikattu as proposed by the Tamil Nadu government.
They said the Home Ministry cleared the ordinance after the Law Ministry approved the draft ordinance proposed by the Tamil Nadu government to enable resumption of the ancient bull taming sport of Jallikattu.

However, earlier today, AIADMK MPs on Saturday met President Pranab Mukherjee over bull taming sports issue and expressed confidence that by Saturday evening the ordinance will come into effect.
