Tips for nude make-up look

Published

on

New Delhi, July 31: Applying a black mascara, choosing a natural shade that compliments your skin and subtle rose or baby pink lip colour — these are the basic rules that one needs to follow to perfect the art of nude make-up look, say experts.

Annanya Sabarwal, Country Head, KIKO Milano India, and Aakriti Kochar, Beauty and Make-up Expert, Oriflame India, list down things to keep in mind:

* For nude make-up look, apply a black mascara on your eyelashes to give your eyes a natural look, while beautifying them by curling the lashes.

Then for a trick, apply a black kajal only in the upper inner corner. The effect will be of a bold and more dense lashes, creating an eye-look focus on the lashes. To enhance the nude look, apply a highlighter eyeshadow over all the eyelid and contour the eyelid with a bronzer.

* To bring a natural glow to your cheeks, just apply a highlighter on your cheekbones instead of fully contouring your skin with make-up. Choose a natural shade that compliments your skin tone to give a simple nude make-up look.

* As the nude make-up look does not allow any vibrant colours, the lips could be done by using a subtle rose or baby pink to add some luminosity to the face. To neutralise the effect of the lip colour, a hint of transparent gloss over the lipstick could do wonders for a nude make-up look.

* One may use a single lipstick to create such look — soft wash on the eyes, flush of lipstick on the cheeks. Apply using your fingers and dab on gently against your skin and not rub it. Apply lipstick generously, groom your brows and put mascara your lashes to complete the look.

* When choosing the nude make-up look, keep the shades in monotone that is different tones in same colour family.

* Use a light base to even out the skin tone first before applying nude shades.

Use loose powder wherever necessary but keep it minimal and let your skin shine through.

How to be flight fabulous

Airport looks
Representative Image

New Delhi, July 16: Airport looks are as important as black-tie events nowadays. So, while ensuring that outfit is on-point, let’s not forget to get a flawless beauty and hair look.

TIGI Educator Audrey D’Souza and Rashmi Shetty, Pond’s Skin Expert help you get jet-setting hair and skin.

D’Souza shares three styles for tresses trend while you are in transit.

* Scarfed hair: Headscarves are a simple accessory that make traveling in style almost too easy and the patterns and colours can help brighten up even the worst in-transit blues. Simply tie a pre-stitched hair scarf behind your ears by either back-combing or side parting your hair

* Mermaid braid: Get the base right by applying a texturing serum. Part the hair into two and work with volumizing mousse for a messy, bed head look. Maintain the tempo and take smaller sections using the Dutch braiding technique and secure the end with a black ribbon. Finish the look with a texturizing spray

* Halfsie Pony: Spritz dry shampoo onto your roots and gather half your hair into a messy. The Half-twist bun for a girl-next-door hairstyle is effortlessly chic

Shetty shares a skincare routine to cope with in-flight cabin air which causes the skin to dry very quickly:

* Before you get on the flight, it’s good to apply a good light moisturizer enriched with Vitamin E or something like a hydrating gel that quickly absorbs in the skin and is cooling on your skin

* Once on the flight, don’t neglect the lips and nails, I advise using a good cuticle oil and an oil rich lip balm to keep them from getting chapped and dry

* For long flights, it’s important not to forget to hydrate yourself along with the skin, drink water and intake lot of fluids

* Use a good serum before going to sleep, I recommend choosing a good serum that is clinically proven to boost skin’s cellular energy and reduce spots, tighten pores and even brighten skin quality.

* The right ingredients make a huge difference, the DermPerfect complex for example, contains two powerful bio-actives (Vitamin B3 and Hexyl Resorcinol) that are known to work on these skincare needs

* Before stepping out, instead of heavy makeup and foundations, I recommend using a multipurpose product like a good BB cream that almost acts like a one-step solution that gives coverage, protects skin from sun and is clinically proven to reduce spots and tighten pores and boost radiance in the skin.

New Delhi, July 12 (IANS) When the lens briefly replaced the brushes for ‘Indian Picasso’ M. F. Husain, what took birth on the streets of Chennai in the 1980s was a rare series of photographs called the “Culture of the Streets”. Cited as a collector’s item, 20 individually signed photographs are on exhibition at the Art Heritage Gallery here.

In the photographic series, the Indian modern master (1915-2011) features India’s popular culture through cinema hoardings on the roads of Chennai.

“Along with graffiti on the street walls, Husain recognizes this as the authentic, intense visual culture that has developed in our teeming, urban metropolis,” the Gallery said.

His use of silver foil photo paper is an example of the artist’s experiments with unorthodox materials and techniques, it added.

Having worked as a billboard painter in his initial days, his association with the streets of India goes back a long way.

Primarily known as a painter, Husain’s experimentation with the camera came at a time when the burgeoning film industry was all too visible in the popular culture in India.

“Culture of the Streets” is part of a group exhibition at the gallery which has photographs by photographer Cop Shiva, along with paintings, drawings and sculptures by noted artists like Gouri Vemula, Zai Jharotia, Sunanda Khajuria, Rajesh Deb, Arun Pandit and G. Reghu.

The show is open for viewing till August 6.

Leather shoes
Representational Image

New Delhi, June 22: Shoes are a crucial part of a wardrobe especially the leather ones. A right pair can accentuate your look whereas a wrong choice can break your entire look no matter how great the outfit so opt for the one that suits your personality, comfort.

Ritesh Srivastava, CEO at Elitify.com and Jyoti Narula, Director at JOE SHU share a few tips to keep in mind while buying a pair of genuine leather shoes.

* Shoe surface: The tactile feel of the shoe surface plays a significant role in deciding the authenticity of leather by the buyer. A pair of genuine leather shoes will usually have a sanded and refinished surface. It would not have a plastic feel or artificial finish that is common with faux leather.

* The insole: One should examine the detailing of the inner lining of the shoes which is another important indicator of quality. Genuine leather shoes will have an extra padded insole that works as a cushion between the feet and the shoes giving comfort and ensuring a sturdy grip.

* Price factor: As a general rule genuine leather costs more. It demands a relatively higher cost for the kind of durability, aesthetic appeal and fine detailing it brings to the footwear.

* Finishing and stitching: Aesthetics play a very important role while choosing a pair of shoes. An elegant silhouette is what adds to instant appeal along with its perfect coloration. The stitching should also be neat and smooth, thereby depicting attention to detail. More so in handcrafted or hand painted shoes.

* Comfort: A fine craftsman of shoes will always focus on comfort along with the styling. There is nothing worse than a shoe that bites.

* Rich fragrance of leather: A crucial point in identifying a real leather shoe is its smell. A shoe made of genuine leather will always carry a rich fragrance which is a natural odour. Authentic leather will never smell of chemicals or plastic.

* The sole: Sole is an important indicator of quality. The better the sole and the lining the more comfort and grip it offers. The shoes should always be light in weight. An extra layer of the sole between the shoe body and the feet will give freedom to the wearer for long hours.
