Hyderabad, Oct 9, 2017: The Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday gave strange instructions to workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to thrash corrupt officials with chappals who seek bribe to sanction leave or release their monetary benefits.
Speaking Singareni Collieries workers at Pragathi Bhavan, Rao said “It’s very unfortunate that you people are being forced to grease the palm of some of your higher officials to get your employment benefits such as availing sick leave, making a claim under medically unfit scheme and getting a good residential quarter. Tomorrow onwards, thrash those officials, who demand bribes from you, beat them with chappals.”
He was there to thank them after the TRS-affiliated union won the recent elections to become the official union of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd, a public sector undertaking. Some of the colliery workers referred to the rampant corruption in the coal company.
Assuring workers that all promises would be implemented without fail, KCR said the proposed interest-free home loans would be provided to all eligible workers.
Rao said the Singareni trade union membership fee would be reduced from the present `20 to `1 per month, AC facility in workers’ quarters, and the state would bear educational expenses of employees’ children, if they get seats in IITs and IIMs. He promised to make Ambedkar birth anniversary a holiday for SCCL and renovate old quarters of employees.
Thanking employees for the Singareni victory , he said: “I will undertake Singareni yatra soon and find your problems directly. I will undergo medical tests in the Singareni hospital in order to know how you are being treated.”
