Mumbai, Dec 27: The much-awaited trailer of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, starring Anupam Kher as former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was released on Thursday. The film chronicles the life of politician-economist Manmohan Singh who served as India’s PM for 10 years from 2004-2014.

The film has been generating lot of buzz owing to the striking resemblance of its characters with the real life counterparts. Kher has transformed himself into looking like Manmohan and has adapted his mannerisms quite well.

The film is a political drama which will present the story of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and is based on a book by Sanjaya Baru, a former media advisor to Manmohan Singh.

In the movie, Aahana Kumra plays Priyanka Gandhi and Arjun Mathur will be seen as Rahul Gandhi.

Divya Seth Shah has step into the shoes of Manmohan Singh’s wife Gursharan Kaur and Ram Avatar Bhardawaj is playing former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.


Akshaye Khanna will be seen in the role of former PM’s media adviser Baru and German actor Suzanne Bernert will play Sonia Gandhi.

The film directed by debutant Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, along with Hansal Mehta as the creative producer.

The script of “The Accidental Prime Minister”, produced by Bohra Bros, is written by Mayank Tewari. The film will hit the screens on January 11, 2019.
