Tesla CEO Elon Musk

San Francisco, Sep 23 : Elon Musk has said that Tesla plans to produce an electric car with a price tag of $25,000 within the next three years.

The aim, said Musk on Battery Day on Tuesday, is to make Tesla electric cars more affordable for the masses.

“That will basically be on-par or slightly better than a comparable gasoline car. This has always been our dream to make an affordable electric car,” he said during the virtual presentation.

The cheapest Tesla Model 3 that made its debut in February 2019 currently costs $35,000. it offers a 350-km range, a top speed of 210 km per hour and acceleration from 0-100 km per hour in 5.6 seconds.

“Tesla says has only been made possible by shifting sales to an online-only platform and by winding down physical outlets,” reports ZDNet.

Tesla is known for the Model Y, Model S, Model X, and Model 3 product lines.

“For a lot of people, they want to buy a Tesla, but they simply don’t have the money. We could make the car infinitely desirable, but if someone does not have the money, they won’t buy it,” Musk said.

The Tesla CEO also announced the development of a new battery cell and a reduction in cell cost per kilowatt-hour.

The main announcement was Tesla’s new larger cylindrical cells. It was claimed the new batteries will provide five times more energy, six times more power and 16 per cent greater driving range.

“But the technology announced is likely to take years to implement. Tesla’s approach includes integrating the battery so that it forms part of the structure of the vehicle, thereby reducing the effective weight of the battery,” reports the BBC.

Musk also announced that as well as purchasing batteries from Panasonic and LG Chem.

Mumbai: Automobile major Tata Motors has achieved the production milestone of 4 million passenger vehicles in India since its inception.

BMW Motorrad recently launched new G 310 R and G 310 GS bikes at ₹2.45 lakh and ₹2.85 lakh, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, India. This means that both the entry-level BMW bikes are now significantly cheaper than their BS4 counterparts. This has been done to make G 310 twins more popular than before and attract better sales. But besides reducing the price, the German two-wheeler maker has made several functional and design tweaks to the motorcycles. Here’s a low down on how different the new G 310 twins are when compared to their previous models.

The new G 310 R and G 310 GS bikes look sportier than their predecessors, thanks to a couple of new body panels and all-new LED headlamp cluster with LED DRL. Both the bikes are also available in new colour schemes; while G 310 GS is available in Rallye Style, Polar White, and a special 40 Years GS black-yellow colour scheme, the G 310 R can be had in Style Sport, Cosmic Black, and Polar White colour options. Another change with the bikes is that they now get an adjustable clutch lever.

BS6 BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS use the same LCD instrument panel that offers all the essential readouts. The motorcycles now also get ride-by-wire system for improved throttle response. Sadly, the bikes still do not get smartphone connectivity.

Both the bikes are now powered by a BS6-compliant 313 cc, liquid-cooled engine that generates 34 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm at 7,500 of peak torque. This engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox with slipper-clutch as standard. This means that mechanically, the motorcycles are no different than their predecessors but the addition of slipper clutch makes it easier to downshift, especially at high speeds.

Furthermore, the new G 310 twins use the same suspension setup — 41 mm USD forks with mono-shock — and braking hardware — 300 mm front and 240 mm rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS — as their BS4 models.

San Francisco: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed the company has started rolling out its next-gen Full Self Driving (FSD) set of features to a limited number of expert and careful drivers.

The customers in Tesla’s Early Access Programme will receive software updates, which will give drivers access to Autopilot’s ‘partially’ automated driver assistance system on city streets.

The Early Access program serves as a testing platform to help fix software bugs.

More Tesla owners would get the update as the time passes, with the goal of a “wide release” by the end of the year.

“Regarding the Full Self-Driving beta release, the Autopilot team, again, is just a really all-star team. I spent a lot of time with the Autopilot team. And there’s a lot of really talented people in that team who have worked incredibly hard to make the — to get the beta release out,” Musk said during the company’s Q3 earnings call on Wednesday.

Musk has been talking about ‘Full Self Driving’ a lot in the past couple of years, calling it an investment in the future that will become far more valuable once fully autonomous cars get regulatory approval.

Earlier, he explained that with feature-complete FSD, the car will be able to drive without human intervention but it would still be supervised.

Tesla also rolled out the 2019.40.2 version of its software to some electric vehicle owners and this update includes features like Adjacent Lane Speed Adjustments and Stop Sign Detection that are required for FSD.
