Terrorists open fire on Handwara Army base, 3 dead

Srinagar, Oct 6, 2016: At least 3  separatist terrorists killed in a gunbattle that sparked after they attacked an Army camp in Langate in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara on Thursday morning.

No casualties have been reported so far.

Colonel Rajesh Kalia, spokesman for the Indian Army’s Srinagar-headquartered 15 Corps confirmed to media that “Three terrorists were killed in the resulting encounter.”

“Heavily armed terrorists dressed in army fatigues attacked the 30 RR camp situated in Langate town of Kupwara district at 5.10 a.m. today (Thursday).

“The alert guards at the 30 RR camp in Langate located close to a civilian facility foiled the terrorists’ attempt to enter the camp by breaching its security periphery,” he said.

On October 3, One trooper of the Border Security Force (BSF) was killed and another wounded when fidayeen terrorists opened fire on an Indian Army camp in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.
