Terrorist attacks Army patrol in Keran Sector, two soldiers injured

Srinagar, June 7: Two soldiers were injured in a militant attack on an Army patrol near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Keran sector.

Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia told IANS that the incident took place near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran Sector.

“Two soldiers suffered non-fatal injuries. Our troops retaliated. The operation against the terrorists is in progress,” the spokesman stated.

The spokesman said a Rashtriya Rifles patrol intercepted two to four infiltrating militants, triggering the gunfight.

The attack comes on a day when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived on a two-day visit. During which he will meet Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and review security arrangements.

The spokesman said a Rashtriya Rifles patrol intercepted two to four infiltrating militants, triggering the gunfight.

The injured soldiers have been shifted to a hospital.
