Tendulkar flags of Marathon; says run to enjoy good health


Kolkata, January 29: Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar flagged off the inaugural edition of IDBI Federal Life Insurance Kolkata Full Marathon on Sunday Morning.

As much as 8,000 people ran in this inaugural edition of 3 events of Marathon. The full marathon began at 5 a.m. and half marathon at 6.30 a.m.

The former cricketer urged people to come out of their home and run for a healthy life.

Thousands turned up to make this event successful. I would like to applaud their effort and their commitment. It was nice to see many women competing hard. This has a positive effect on life, and basic idea of having a marathon like that to encourage people to run and enjoy good health,” said Tendulkar.

Citing importance of good health in life, Tendulkar said as health challenges increase life becomes difficult and you miss enjoying life to the fullest.

He also attributed the success of current Team India under captain Virat Kohli to their high fitness level. He said their fitness regime makes them one of the best fielding sides in the world.
