Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao dissolves state assembly, seeks fresh elections

Hyderabad, Sep 6: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday submitted his resignation to Governor ESL Narasimhan. 

The Telangana cabinet unanimously decided to dissolve the state assembly. The Governor approved assembly dissolution as recommended by the Chief Minister.

The  Governor has asked Rao to continue as caretaker Telangana CM till the new government is formed.

The state cabinet took the decision in meeting at the Chief Minister’s official residence, Pragati Bhavan, this afternoon.

After this, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao called on Governor ESL Narasimhan to inform about the decision.

KCR will later reach Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters, to formally announce the cabinet decision at a press conference. He is also expected to announce the first list of TRS candidates.

The Assembly term will end in May 2019.
