Tata Motors unveils sports car Tamo Racemo

Geneva, March

India’s auto major Tata Motors on Tuesday showcased its first sports car, the Tamo Racemo, at the Geneva Motor Show 2017.

It also unveiled its next generation car in the compact category, sedan Tigor as well as SUV Nexon.

“Symbolising the change that is taking place” in the auto maker, the two-seater sports coupe, the first product under its new sub-brand Tamo, is the India’s first connected car.

Unveiling the car, company’s MD and CEO Guenter Butschek said: “We launched our sub-brand as our answer to new technologies, business models and partnerships. The sports car is the first innovation from the sub-brand, and our emotional, unexpected leap to the future. It will drive the future of India’s connected generation.”

The sports car, equipped with advanced navigation, predictive maintenance, remote monitoring and over-the-air updates using Microsoft cloud-based technologies, is expected to hit the market in 2017-18.

“From styling and design to driver experience and technology, the car is an extension of customers’ personality, as part of their digital ecosystem and will break the ice with a radical new presence and pique the interest in the parent brand,” he added.

The car is built on its patented MOFlex Multi-Material Sandwich (MMS) structure – a structural technology, enabling greater freedom in surface design, efficient large-scale part integration leading to modularity and faster time to market.

The new sports car was unveiled in the presence of new Chairman N. Chandrasekaran and Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata.

According to company officials, after a successful launch of HEXA early this year, the car maker is speeding towards the launch of styleback, Tata Tigor, this month. Tata Nexon, will mark its entry in the rapidly growing SUV segment later this year.

SRK shows support for Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, unveils portable bin for cars

New Delhi, Feb 9: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Thursday showed support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by unveiling ‘Swachh Can’, a portable bin for users of Hyundai cars.

It was launched under Hyundai Motor India Limited’s ‘Swachh Move’ that supports Modi’s cleanliness campaign.

“‘Swachh Can’ is a simple yet powerful idea and I would like to request every single car owner to go ahead and use it and play their role in the Clean India Movement,” Shah Rukh, dressed in a black and white suit with a waistcoat, said at the Auto Expo at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, on Thursday.

Shah Rukh, also the Hyundai Corporate Brand Ambassador, has even taught his youngest son AbRam to focus on cleanliness and be a part of the cleanliness movement.

YK Koo, Managing Director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, said: “We recently conducted a survey of car owners and found 98 per cent respondents care about cleanliness of outside infrastructure such as streets, and more than 95 per cent respondents favoured they would prefer a portable covered bin inside the car in which waste items could be disposed off. This led us to innovation of ‘Swachh Can.”

Starting from March 1, the Hyundai product line-up will come with a factory-fitted ‘Swachh Can’.

New Delhi, Feb 7: Luxury automobile major Mercedes-Benz on Wednesday launched its Mercedes Maybach S 650 and teased its E-Class All-Terrain model for its upcoming India debut.

The company also launched its Made-in-India BS-VI Mercedes Maybach S 560 to continue Maybach’s popularity in India.

While the S 650 model would cost Rs 2.73 crore (ex-showroom), the S 560 would be priced at Rs 1.94 crore, the company said.

The luxury car brand also showcased it futuristic electric vehicle “EQ concept”.

The company made the announcement at the pre-open event of the 14th Auto Expo.

The “Auto Expo — The Motor Show” 2018 is being held from February 9-14, , at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.

However, February 7-8 is reserved for the media and exhibitors.

New Delhi, Feb 7: Automobile major Hyundai Motor India unveiled the new Elite i20 at the pre-open event of the 14th Auto Expo in Greater Noida on Wednesday. The company also said that it will launch nine new models, including an electric vehicle in the Indian market by 2020. 

The company made the announcement at the pre-open event of the 14th Auto Expo.

The “Auto Expo — The Motor Show” 2018 is being held from February 9-14, 2018 at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.

However, February 7-8 is reserved for the media and exhibitors.

Over the years, the Auto Expo has become much less of an event and more of a phenomenon considering that in 2016, the ‘2016 Auto Expo’ was the third most searched topic on Google in India as per Google records. Engaging the populace through a flash-flood of media, with over 2.9 lakh tweets being generated around the Expo in 2018, the 2016 edition saw over 7 lakh people in 7 days, Preparations this year will encompass 8 lakh visitors over the 7-day period.
