New Delhi, April 14: Tamil Nadu farmers who have been protesting in national capital from 30 days draped Sarees today to grab the attention of the Modi government towards their plight.
The farmers form Tamil Nadu are demanding loan waivers and drought relief package as the state has faced the worst drought condition.
Just two days back they stripped outside Rashtrapati Bhavan after they were denied the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The farmers submitted the memorandum to the PMO listing their demands.
Yesterday the supreme court had also sent a notice to TN government for its apathy towards farmers woes. The apex court said that it is painful to see farmers dying and the state government has not even moved a finger to help its Farmers. The SC has sought a reply from the government about the steps being taken to appease the farmer woes.
The TN farmers are staging protest with skulls of farmers who died due to severe drought in the state.
A few days back the farmers picked dead rats in their mouths to highlight their pathetic condition. Several politicians including Congress President Sonia Gandhi and leaders of opposition from the TN Stalin and Kanimojhi also met the farmers.
