Tamil Nadu Assembly passes resolution against on Mekedatu dam project

Dec 6 : DMK President MK Stalin on Thursday said that a unanimous  resolution have been passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly urging the Central Government to withdraw the permission given to Karnataka to construct a dam across river Cauvery at Mekedatu.

Speaking to media, Stalin said,”We cannot accept Central Government’s stand on permitting Karnataka government to construct a reservoir in Mekedatu. We agree to move a resolution on Mekedatu but we also recommend a resolution on condemning BJP govt for giving permission to Karnataka.”

‘We wanted extension of the session for tomorrow to discuss about issues relating to Gaja cyclone including distribution of funds & release of funds from the centre but this point was also not accepted. We thoroughly criticise this stand of the government,”Stalin said.

‘ Earlier in the day, the Tamil Nadu Assembly adopted a resolution unanimously urging the Centre to withdraw the permission given to Karnataka for a detailed project report for its proposed dam across river Cauvery at Mekedattu.

Karnataka Water Resources Minister D.K Shivakumar is set to meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to discuss the proposed Mekedatu project and reach an amicable solution.

Jaipur, Feb 16: The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Saturday demonstrate its full spectrum combat and fire capabilities at Pokhran Range in Rajasthan during ‘Vayu Shakti-2019’.

Indian Air Force chief BS Dhanoa, Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and others attended the show.

This was the 7th edition of the Fire Power Demonstration (FPD).

It is conducted by the IAF once in three years which is participated by fighters, transports, helicopters, force enablers and support systems.

Jammu and Kashmir: Army Major killed in IED blast on LoC

Srinagar, Feb 16: An army officer has lost his life in an explosion in the Rajouri sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

The Major-rank army officer was killed while defusing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which had been planted by militants.

The officer is from the Corps of Engineers. The IED was planted 1.5 kms inside the Line of Control in the Naushera sector.
